Helens again struggled to find the attacking fluency that has served them well so far this season as they blew a good start before hitting back to beat Salford. It would be difficult to rank the form of Castleford based on last weeks win alone and whilst it was an improved effort, Leeds offered little and Saints will be a very different proposition. With Saints only tasting defeat once all season, it is hard to see a second loss here. They face Castleford here who will be looking to build on last week's win over Leeds but Saints should have too much. St.

Liam Watts always seems to be on the brink of an international call up while Alex Walmsley will be hoping to regain a spot after missing last years series against New Zealand through injury. On Friday night there will be two forwards who will both be eyeing up a plane seat for this autumns Lions tour. The English national side are shy in the quality of forwards.

Castleford Tigers, with home advantage look to have the value in the betting stakes for this match and our Super League betting tips are for the Tigers to score the first points of the game in front of their home fans. Other value bets include Castleford to round out the game with the final points of the match to really put down a marker.

THE TEAM NEWS

St Helens came out on top, winning the game 46-6. These teams have met on three occasions in 2018. Mark Percival scored a hat-trick of tries for the Saints, and Ben Barba bagged a brace. The first game came on the opening weekend of the Super League season, on February 2, at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Two of those games have been in Super League, and one in the Challenge Cup.

Castleford and St Helens have been involved in some truly memorable clashes in recent years. Classics have included Saints scoring three tries to win in the last fifteen minutes in 2014, a last minute drop goal from Ben Roberts in 2015 and who could forget an extra time drop goal from Luke Gale to send Cas to their first ever Grand Final.

The England scrumhalf needs more game time in his legs if he wants to be properly sharp for the semi-final with Wigan. One man who should play, though, is Luke Gale. Gale was out for much of this season with injury, and does not look properly sharp yet. Another game, particularly against a team of Saints quality, will do him good.

That result delayed their claiming of the League Leaders Shield, which they eventually picked up when they won 38-12 at home to Hull FC on September 14. Their last defeat came at home to fierce local rivals Wigan Warriors on August 31. The Saints were decidedly second best that evening, losing 30-10. St Helens have won their last three matches, and have improved over the course of that run. Last weekend, Saints looked capable and confident again, sweeping Warrington aside 34-14 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. After a few wobbles in recent weeks, Justin Holbrooks team look to have rediscovered some momentum at just the right time of the season.

HEAD TO HEAD

Luke Gale has been a key component of the Tigers runaway success this season and leads the Super League as the top goal-kicker as well as chipping in with 12 tries. The continued success of Gale will go along way to deciding the Super League Title. St Helens have been indebted to winger Mark Percival, who has scored 14 tries to lead St Helens late surge into the Super 8s and if they are to get anything out of the game with the league leaders, his name will have to be on the score-sheet.

Having topped the regular season table, Castleford go into their Super 8s match with St Helens as clear favourites to make the Semi-Finals with a 14-point gap to fourth place Salford City Red Devils. St Helens sit just a point off a semi-final place and go into the match knowing a win will give them a great chance of reaching the latter stages.
