Our Prediction:

Dortmund will win

Schalke 04 – Dortmund Match Prediction | 26-10-2019 09:30

Paco Alccers face may not have fit at Barcelona, but the Spanish striker has netted ten goals in the Bundesliga and is playing a vital role in Dortmunds title challenge. Burgstaller, Embolo, and Skrzybski have all chipped in with two goals each for Saturdays hosts, but the obvious lack of a goalscorer is certainly having a negative effect on Schalkes season. Reus injury nightmare seems to be behind him and the German forward appears to be back to his very best with nine league goals so far this season. That penalty took Bentaleb onto three goals for the season which is enough to see the Algerian top score for Schalke in the league.

A man to watch in the home team will be experienced attacker Marco Reus, but pacey winger Sancho is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders as well. There will be fireworks when Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 face each other at Signal-Iduna-Park in the Ruhr derby. The Millionaires are eager to stay in the race for the Bundesliga trophy and we predict that they will go all guns blazing at their local rivals on Matchday 31.

Were confident that both teams will score and that over 2.5 goals will be produced in Saturdays game, and have backed Dortmund to claim a narrow 2-1 win. The visitors head into Saturdays game as the form favourites, but Dortmund havent beaten Schalke in their last five attempts. Three of the last six matches between the two clubs have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals produced, and the same can be said about three of Schalkes and three of Dortmunds last six matches in league and cup.

Schalke 04 is ranked on the 10th place in the standings with 43 points, 45 goals scored and 40 goals received in the last 34 leagueevents. They have failed to win 13 of their last 34 matches in Bundesliga. In their last match they draw against Ingolstadt. Schalke 04 lost only one match from the previous 5 played before this event with Dortmund. The attacking skills of Schalke 04 are not good.

Prediction Schalke 04 - Borussia Dortmund

Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got himself on the score-sheet once again, taking his tally to 7 goals in eight matches one in each of his last three. Aubameyang trails the Bundesligas leading goalscorer, Anthony Modeste of Cologne, by just one goal and his form would indicate that a bet on himto score anytime at 4/6 with bet365 would be reasonable. Borussia Dortmunds mid-week 1-1 draw at home to Union Berlin in the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal, where they progressed through to the 3rd round on penalties, means the hosts come into this with just one competitive win in their last six matches. Dortmund are without a win inthree in the Bundesligaand were caught off guard as last weekends trip toface the out-of-form Ingolstadt saw them forced to fight from 3-1 down to take away a point from the eventual 3-3 draw.

Borussia Dortmund come into the Revierderby at home to rivals Schalke as the bookies favourites at 8/15. However, we feel the visitors are the better bet here for a handful of reasons: at odds of 8/5 on draw of Schalke double chance, Schalkes historicalrecord away to Dortmund alone is enough to make this a profitable bet Schalke have won or drawn in 24 of the 44 matches played in Dortmund (55%). Over the last three Bundesliga match-days, Schalke are the third most inform side (W2 D1) and they lead the charges with most goals scored over the same period (eight).

Andre Schurrle and Gonzalo Castro are also unlikely to feature and young winger Emre Mor serves the second of his 2 match suspension for the straight red picked up against Hertha. Dortmund's Marco Reus is out of rehabilitation training after his injury spell but is not expected back until later this year. Centre backs Neven Subotic and Sven Bender remain doubtful alongside wing-backs Raphael Guerreiro and Erik Durm.

Reus opened the scoring for Dortmund at home to Freiburg courtesy of a fortieth minute penalty, and the hosts were good money for their half time lead after outplaying their guests in every department. Alccer was introduced into the game in the seventieth minute and it was the Spaniard that wrapped up all three points for Dortmund when he made it 2-0 in stoppage time. The hosts continued the dominate the match in the second half, but that all important second goal continued to evade them.

Schalke finished second in the Bundesliga last season, but have failed to live up to the same high standards this time around and currently languish in mid table. On Saturday twelfth placed Schalke play host to the current league leaders Borussia Dortmund, and with nineteen points separating the two clubs ahead of kick-off the home side are bound to be in for a testing ninety minutes.
