Old Leighlin – Bagenalstown Gaels Match Prediction | 15-09-2019 14:00

They were defeated by 1-7 to 0-8 after a replay in Limerick, after being controversially denied a winning goal in injury time. In the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship Carlow teams have been much more successful. ire g have five Leinster titles while O'Hanrahans claim one to their credit. The team had to make do with immortality of a different kind, you will see them togged out in 1920-style kit, posing as the Tipperary Bloody Sunday team in Neil Jordan's film "Michael Collins" against a Kilmacud Crokes team filling in as Dublin. ire g were deprived of the All Ireland club title in 1993 by Cork's O'Donovan Rossa of Skibereen.

Palatine have a lot of pace in their team and obviously going for three-in-a-row, while Eire Og are coming in, I thought they were very cautious against Tinryland in the Quarter-Final. Palatine will attack them from their half-back line and that should actually be a very good game of football I imagine, I am really looking forward to seeing that one.

Carlow also lost Leinster finals in 1941 and 1942 to the same opposition. Kerry fisherman-publican Paddy "Bawn" Brosnan kept Carlow from reaching an All-Ireland final in 1944. His second half goal put Carlow out of the All-Ireland semi-final by 3-3 to 0-10. A Leinster title was won back in 1944. The final was played in Athy due to the war and Carlow beat Dublin by 2-6 to 1-6. Carlow have claimed very few honours at senior level.

Paul Broderick too would have been very very unlucky not to get a nomination. He had a phenomenal year on the scoring charts and when you see Paddy McBrearty(Donegal) getting nominated ahead of him, an all-star nomination for a County like Carlow would be a massive boost to local GAA people and to promote the game locally so we would be disappointed, he said.

It might be a last hurrah for a few of the Old Leighlin stalwarts really. Rathvilly should be favorites against Old Leighlin I imagine. Get an hour out of Mark Brennan and I would give them a chance of possibly causing an upset but strength in depth is an issue for them, they dont seem to have the back-up that they need whereas Rathvilly would have a lot of young players to come in and are going quite well, he said.

Cullen Memorial NS welcomed Mr. It was with a great sense of pride that the staff and pupils of Fr. Pat Culhane, GAA National development Officer from Croke Park to their school on Friday afternoon. Well done to all involved. They were greeted with a guard of honour from the junior classes. The school was one of three Carlow schools to receive the first ever GAA 5 star centre flag. Also, in attendance were members of Leinster Council, Carlow County Board and Tinryland GFC. This initiative acknowledges the work of teachers in promoting Gaelic games & is based on the principle that every child should get 60 minutes of activity per week throughout the school year.

Final score Tinryland 1-11 Palatine 1-11. Final score 2-04 to 1-09. In Div 3 Tinryland drew with Palatine on Saturday evening. Tinrylands Div 4 team finished off their league with a defeat to Bagenalstown Gaels on Friday evening. Tinryland led at half time 2-03 to 5 points but could only add 1 more point in the second half. Best for Tinryland Jonah Dunne, Conal OShea and Conor Ryan. Best for Tinryland were Lee Buggle, Harry Hennessy, Barry Power, Cormac OBrien and Cathal Whelan. Division 3 have qualified for league semi final.

The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. The tournament consists of 8 teams, with the winner going on to represent Carlow in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The 2019 Carlow Senior Football Championship is the 119th edition of the Carlow GAA's premier club gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Carlow, Ireland.

They played at this level until 2016 which saw them relegated from the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. They repeated the trick the following year, defeating Down at Croke Park to win a two in a row and earn automatic promotion to tier one for 2010. The very next year however they won the 2017 Christy Ring Cup for a record equaling third time gaining promotion to the top tier of hurling once again.
